Master of Arts in the Humanities
The Master of Arts in Humanities is a 30 semester unit program which requires 10 courses and a comprehensive exam.  Alternatively, they may write an extensive research paper or a thesis. Students are required to take a set of courses that provide an interdisciplinary foundation of literature, art history, philosophy, and history.  The course content and the courses themselves are designed to enable students to analyze issues from multiple perspectives.  In addition to the core courses, students will take elective courses in special topics in the humanities, often centered on regions.  They will continue the process of connecting themes and issues in the disciplines.  The program is designed to enable students from diverse backgrounds to gain a broader appreciation of humanistic concerns and issues found in the humanities. Ultimately, the course will help students have a fuller life as individuals and members of the global community.
